We all need places to belong. A place of security, peace, where we can be real and discover God’s purpose for our lives. This is at the heart of what the Lantern has to offer.

Located in the middle of the community our aim is to serve those in Merley, and to bring the good news of Jesus to all looking for meaning and purpose in their lives.

The Lantern Church is a growing congregation representing a mix of people from a variety of backgrounds, nations, races and ages. Many who come along are new to church, simply investigating what we believe. Others are seeking God and wanting to connect with him. And many of us identify ourselves as Christ-followers, learning two things – to worship God, and to reflect the character and heart of Jesus to the people around us.

The Lantern is part of the Church of England and enjoys a close relationship with other key churches in the area especially Canford Parish Church and St. Barnabas, Bearwood (we form what’s called a ‘team ministry’).

As part of the New Wine Network we are associated with many churches in the UK and throughout the world, which are seeking to bring the good news of Jesus to the community around us.

The Lantern Church is known for its spirit of worship, energetic preaching, generosity, faith in the goodness of God and warm Christian love.
